Spring is one of the loveliest times of year to visit our winery and vineyards: not least because our ever more extensive pollination garden veritably fills out with colour and our increasing animal population is in truly energetic and vigorous mode.
Activities
Do not miss out on a fabulous chocolate workshop staged in the old Juan Ruiz plant founded in Rueda back in 1918. Here, with sympathetic instruction, you’ll be able to make your very own tablet of chocolate following the techniques of yore and using the original antique machinery, which will be specially fired up for the occasion.
This will be followed by a visit to Menade, where you will be able to taste some of our wines
We’ll also be resuscitating a bird-watching hike that’s proved very popular over the years centred around el Alcornocal de Valdegalindo, which lies close to our vineyards; and this will be under the auspices of the Buteo Iniciativas Ambientales – a nationally recognized environmental body which runs similar tours all over Spain.
Our third possibility is a visit – which can of course be combined with a visit to Menade over the same weekend – to the spectacular Era de las Aves private zoo in Fresno el Viejo, which is a privileged reserve dedicated to sheltering and reviving all manner of mammals and birds.
Needless to say we have a shared view of environmental issues.
Wine Events Nationally
Once again we’ll be attending Magnificat: the fab annual showcase organized by our impressive distributor Primeras Marcas in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia on April 17th; and Richard Sanz will be taking part in a special tasting entitled ‘España, tierra de blancos’/’Spain, land of whites’ which will feature a number of national icons
The following day, Alejandra Sanz will be one of the 30 protagonists of ‘Las Mujeres del Vino’/’Women in Wine’ – a tasting that will be celebrated at la Fábrica Moritz: one of Europe’s biggest microbreweries in the Eixample district of Barcelona.
Moving swiftly on, we’ll then be with Enotecum Vins at their impressive do at the Restaurante Molí de Sal in Formentera.
And to wrap up, on the 21st and 22nd of April we’ll be sponsoring the Sarmiento Folk-Rock festival that constitutes such a major part of la Fiesta del Verdejo back home in La Seca.
Wine Events Internationally
During the Spring we’ll be lavishing our attentions primarily on the United States and Asia.
April 28th thru May 2nd will therefore see us over a spread of US venues – Washington DC, Georgia, Colorado & Oregon; and from June 10th thru 16th we’ll be busy in New York and Massachusetts.
May 12th thru June 2nd you’ll meantime find us in Asia – beginning in Shanghai, moving on to South Korea, collaborating in the Taiwan Wine Fair, and finishing up in Hong Kong to participate in their Vinexpo.
